Animal Welfare
The Mannheimer Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to excellence and our teams ensure cleanliness, health, enrichment and safety above and beyond minimum regulations.
IACUCĀ & Regulatory Compliance
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is designed to ensure quality assurance and continued assessment of our standard operating procedures. Research protocols and our animal care program are reviewed frequently. Our facilities are and have been fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) since 1999 and adhere to principles outlined in the ILAR Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals as well as the USDA Animal Welfare Act and Animal Welfare Regulations. Our facilities and animals are also subject to inspections by our clients as well as federal and state regulatory agencies.
Enrichment & Regulatory Compliance
The Foundation supports an active behavioral management program in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and Regulations. This includes a written plan for environmental enrichment that attends to individual animal needs. We provide an enhanced physical environment, variety of enrichment materials, social contact, as well as routine behavioral monitoring and environmental assessment. We conduct biobehavioral research and new techniques are implemented to prevent behavioral pathology, improve management practices and ensure psychological well-being.
